4 styles for 2018
Happy 2018! A new year means hitting the refresh button for many, and stepping back to evaluate what to change, maintain, and expand. For retail stores, this often involves taking a look at the styles that worked and the ones that didn’t catch your customers’ attention quite as much as you hoped they would. There are a number of emerging trends worth taking a chance on, whether you want to dazzle your most fashion-forward clientele or appeal to those who prefer to play it safe. We believe the four styles below are worth a look—and we’ve got good reason to think so. Ready to ride the royal wedding wave? You’ll need pearls, of course. The “it” style in earrings? Take your cues from the red carpet as awards season heats up. See the rest—and the exemplary items to match, courtesy of our LUXURY by JCK exhibitors—below.
1) Pearls for a Princess
It’s a royal wedding year! With Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tying the knot in May, rest assured you won’t be the only one dressing in your royal best to pretend you’re at the wedding. (Er, um, is that just me?) When in doubt of what to wear to meet the queen, go for pearls—whether traditional or not, they’ll find a place in anyone’s collection for a long time to come. It hasn’t been officially announced that the wedding will be televised, but a Kensington Palace rep reportedly told TMZ that cameras would be permitted, so here’s hoping!
2) Celestial Sparklings
2018 promises to be a big year for star and space gazers, so one can only expect those interests to be reflected in jewelry. The moon and stars are among the most popular icons in jewelry design already, and styles featuring them—either alone, or in combination—are guaranteed to be best sellers for a long time to come. National Geographic recently released a list of the must-see sky events for the year, so consider spotlighting your starriest jewels to align with those dates.
3) Big Earrings
We’re moving away from tiny stud earrings to big, bold versions instead. Case in point: a number of recent red carpet appearances by celebs showcasing some seriously swingy ear-wear, including a return to the single earring; long, shoulder-dusting drops; and big ol’ diamonds.
If you believe Pantone’s declaration of Ultra Violet as the 2018 Color of the Year, purple will be the hue to covet. It’s not just that particular shade of violet, either: Look for the full range of purple tones, from dark almost-reds to pinkish purples, too.
