Where did you go on vacation?
My daughter, Greta and I went to visit my family in Montana. We were in Helena and Yellowstone.
What was your favorite memory from your trip?
You can’t get enough of the scenery in Montana – and there is a definite reason why it is referred to as “Big Sky”. While we were there we stayed at Chico Hot Springs, Resort and Day Spa. It was something out of the 1960s, but had the most amazing hot springs and restaurant. It was a magical place.

I knew I wanted to mix metals and wear pieces that were inspired by nature and had earthy elements. From right to left — Alishan’s Oxidized Two-Tone Moonstone Ring paired with Boaz Kashi’s Bangles were neutral yet bold for everyday wear. As Jacqueline dished in her Design of the Times last week, Susan Wheeler’s jewelry is all about how everything in nature is formed so the Tusk Necklace was essential for this trip. When you’re packing for a vacation you need a mix of everyday and some statement pieces, my chosen two were the Two-Tone Opal Shield Ring by AmberBeata Collections and Todd Reed’s Gray Fancy Diamond Cuff. Both of these had the texture and unique design I was looking for.
What did you pack?
I packed many of the same things I pack when I go to our JCK Tucson Show – Southwestern jewelry, layers as you never can predict the temperature in the mountains, and comfortable shoes. It is so nice to have a relaxed fashion style going into a vacation like this.
What is your personal style mantra when on vacation?
Relaxed, casual/chic. Minimal makeup and just “chill”. With all the travel and running I do all year round, when I am on vacation, I like to keep it simple. I always make sure to have a wrap, and a small bag so I am not “schlepping” as is normal for running around New York City.
What is one of your travel rituals before a trip?
I make a point of checking work email only in the morning and at night. I really try to unplug and enjoy the time with friends and family.
