The JCK team has been busy since the start of the new year traveling to various stores and attending industry events. From New York City to Wisconsin and across the globe to Paris, the team has already covered a lot of ground (and it’s not even February!). As always, we’re here to provide you with all of the details on the team’s latest whereabouts and the adventures they have while representing the JCK brand.

JCK Gets Glam At 24 Karat Weekend

The JCK, LUXURY, and JIS teams were out in full force for 24 Karat Weekend festivities in New York City on Jan. 13 and 14, and it certainly was a weekend to remember!

Reed Jewelry Group leaders senior vice president Yancy Weinrich, JCK industry vice president Katie Dominesey, and group marketing director Sarin Bachmann all had busy schedules attending their respective industry board meetings. These included WJA, JFC, and JSA. The JCK Las Vegas team hosted its own advisory board meeting to talk through exciting plans for the event, and gathered great input from a multitude of industry perspectives.

LUXURY Privé also hosted its advisory board meeting to discuss plans for this summer’s event. It was only fitting to have the meeting at the recently renovated Intercontinental Barclay, which will be the new home for the show in July. The team heard a lot of great feedback on the venue including its contemporary, fresh rooms and overall modern look–the perfect setting for a boutique jewelry event!

Evening events included the 15th Annual Gem Awards on Friday evening at Cipriani and the 115th edition of the 24 Karat Gala on Saturday at the Waldorf. The full Reed Jewelry Group team was in attendance for 24 Karat.

“It is one of the most elegant events of the year that brings together all facets of the jewelry industry,” said Lauren Laramore. “Hearing the stories our customers tell about the event’s rich history and how it has evolved throughout the years is truly fascinating. It was a great time for our entire team to catch up with customers, hear about their holidays, and meet industry newcomers.”


Isabel Scopes Stores in Wisconsin

JCK retailer account manager Isabel Cajulis spent Christmas and New Year’s in Wisconsin with her boyfriend’s family, but she couldn’t stay away from jewelry while she was there! She did some exploring of the state’s retail scene.

Isabel took a day trip to La Crosse, where she visited one of the JCK Loyalist lifestyle stores, Touch of Class. The store is filled with stylish apparel and beautiful gifts. It also carries both high-end artisan jewelry designers such as Sydney Lynch and fashion jewelry from Chan Luu.

Another trip was on the agenda, this time to Spring Green to visit the Opal Man. The store is actually located inside a quaint old gas station. According to Isabel, Dennis Dahl, the Opal Man himself, travels to all of the jewelry shows each year in search of beautiful opals to sell in his store. He also visits Australia annually to visit the opal mines. Wow!

On the Pennsylvania Jewelry Scene With Hannah

LUXURY retailer account manager Hannah Connorton took a trip to Pennsylvania in mid-January to visit both suburban and urban stores and get a feel for how the holiday shopping season, and jewelry buying in general, had fared in the state.

“I visited more than a dozen stores, and each reported a great holiday buying season in their store, with one jeweler remarking that he was up 10 percent year over year,” Hannah said. “It was uplifting and exciting to have these positive discussions and gain some insight into what consumers were buying in a particular market.”

K.E. Jones Jewelers, Golden Nugget Jewelers, Higashi Jewelry & Eyewear, and Finch Jewelers were just a few of the retailers Hannah touched base with on her trip, which took her through Lancaster and Philadelphia.

“Visiting stores not only allows me the opportunity to meet my jewelers and see their stores in person, but also see the towns and cities they’re located in and what kind of jewelry and watch trends are prominent there,” she told us. “The great add-on to this trip was being in beautiful Lancaster and getting the chance to see an Amish horse and buggy in person. It was a great community, and I’m looking forward to visiting again sometime.”

RJG Takes Paris for BIJORHCA

Team leaders Yancy WeinrichKatie Dominesey, and Lauren Laramore traveled to Paris to attend BIJORHCA.

BIJORHCA Paris has been the jewelry industry’s international trade show for finished jewelry, watches, elements, and supplies in France since its opening in 1936. The show is owned and operated by Reed Exhibitions, and although run by its French office, BIJORHCA is in the global jewelry portfolio alongside JCK Events.

The event brought together a one-day global meeting of Reed Exhibitions jewelry portfolio management teams with representatives from host BIJORHCA, International Jewellery London (IJL), and JCK Events who spent their time together discussing global event strategy, exchanging customer insights, sharing best practices, and collaborating on new initiatives that will enhance our customers’ experiences domestically and abroad.
