5 Overlooked Items to Pack for JCK Tucson
Ready to hit the desert? It’s almost time for JCK Tucson 2019! Surely you’ve been thinking about the outfits you’re going to wear, lining up your shoe collection to determine which ones are the most comfortable—and stylish—to make the cut. So rather than share the most obvious additions to your suitcase (business cards, hand sanitizer, etc.), we thought we’d offer up five things you might not have thought to pack before you jet to JCK.
Nestled in your lineup of comfortable footwear may be a smart pair of boots you’ll be eager to hit the desert trails in! If you don’t plan to do any intense hiking—or don’t have any boots—at least be sure to include a trusty pair of sneakers, for your sunrise desert treks, yoga classes, or early morning workouts.
Though many of you will be heading to Tucson from very cold, skin-chapping climates, the desert is a different kind of dry. You may be familiar with it from visits to JCK Las Vegas. Don’t embark on your trip without your most moisturizing lip balm and your favorite lotion (pat yourself on the back if it includes SPF!). Your quenched skin with thank you.
A Water Bottle
The dry desert air can leave your throat as parched as your skin. Bring your favorite water bottle and keep it filled so you’ll stay hydrated all day without relying on disposable plastic water bottles. Bonus: A decorative bottle (jewelry themed, perhaps?) doubles as a conversation-starter!
Here’s a necessity that’s always in short supply when you need it. Pens come in handy to take notes on the business cards you’ll accumulate — jot down anecdotes to help you remember whose face belongs to which card. They’re also indispensable—along with a mini notebook—in case your phone and (gasp!) your portable charger run out of batteries. Bonus points for bringing pens branded with the name of your business, retail store, or website. If someone you meet needs a writing utensil, you’ll get a bit of free advertising!
After a long and busy holiday sales season, this may serve as a much-needed getaway for many of you heading to Arizona. And what’s one of the best parts of a getaway? Sleeping in the hotel, of course! Those comfortable beds, fluffy pillows and cranking down the thermostat so you can bundle up nice and cozily. What a dream! Even if you plan to spend your evenings hitting the town, coming back to a crisp pair of new pajamas will aid in lulling you off to sleep, so you’ll be bright eyed and ready to tackle the next day on the show floor. Sweet dreams!
