Spotlight On: D. Geller & Son

Dan Geller established D. Geller & Son as a wholesale company that also sold to the public in 1939 on Broad Street in Downtown Atlanta. As a wholesale company, Dan sold to companies like Rich’s, Zale’s and over 350 independent family owned jewelry stores all over the Southeast.

Mike Geller took over the company in 1976 when his father passed. He became apprenticed as a jeweler at the age of 7 and began working full time at 14 years old. Formerly “D. Geller,” Dan added “& Son” to the name when Mike asked for a raise in 1974. That was his raise!

Today, the store continues to be a family business focused on helping customers celebrate the most special times in their lives. It has helped generations of customers celebrate marriage, birthdays, anniversaries, births of first children and many other special occasions.

To make customers’ experiences comforting, easy and special, D. Geller & Son educates its customers to help guide them to make the best decision for such important purchases, especially for engagement rings, which can be overwhelming. The store often provides repairs, stones setting and sizing while customers wait. The store’s goal is to make buying jewelry fun and stress-free.

Check out some of the ways D. Geller & Son makes every shopping experience a special one for its customers:

Relationships
All of the store’s showroom TVs play a rotation of images that their customers have sent them, and they incorporate them into their social media pages so that they can share the mentions with their friends. It has become the norm for the D. Geller & Son team to connect with their customers with their own personal social pages. This is a great way to engage with customers and stay connected, and it’s what has made their customers friends and family.

Loyalty
In addition to “thank you” cards, the store also sends their customers anniversary and birthday cards in the mail to let them know they are thinking of them. These gestures have helped land them on the “Best of” lists on Yelp (2018-2019), The Knot (2017-2019), Wedding Wire (2017-2019), Jewish Times (local publication; 2018-2019) and Smyrna/Vinings (2018).

Stand Out
D. Geller & Son continues to partner with local groups to help their neighbors in need. In 2018, they partnered with Power 96.1, a local radio station, to help raise toy donations for children who are in the hospital over the holidays. The store also became one of the founding patrons of the City Springs Theatre Company. The company puts together performances using local talent, hosts teaching seminars and is furthering the arts in our neighborhoods! Additionally, the store sponsored 5k runs in support of a local sorority and local charities that provide aid worldwide. What a fun way to bond with the team and help the community!
