3 ways to use it this holiday season
As we head into the holiday season quicker than you can say “jingle bells,” you might be thinking about your marketing strategies this year. Whether you’re doing some local radio or television advertising, upping your social media budget, or composing an email campaign, there’s certainly plenty to consider.
Add another element of Instagram to the mix: it’s live video element, or IGTV.
IGTV features longform videos, not unlike YouTube, allows users to create content ranging from one minute to up to an hour long (though only certain accounts can publish at that length). Should you use it? Have you used it? While it didn’t seem to be an instant hit for the platform, it has reportedly seen an increase in views these last few months. Is it finally becoming popular? If the answer is yes, here are a few ways you might want to consider using IGTV.
Create a Series
Consider doing a weekly, or even daily series of it videos, each just a couple of minutes long. Utilize holiday themes like, “A Few of My Favorite Things,” or “Hot Wishlist Items,” and take the time to walk your viewers through a single piece of jewelry per video. Show it’s movement, do closeups, show how it looks when worn. Talk about its materials, its designer or brand, if applicable, and describe why you or your customers love it. Sharing a different jewel each day will excite customers to see what’s next, and you can update them in future videos if and when a product has been sold.
Go Live From Your Store
Generate excitement during a sale or your store’s holiday happy hour with a fun, news-channel style report. “Interview” your staff and customers on the most wanted jewels of the season, and encourage viewers to stop over and join in on the fun.
Hold a Fashion Show
Partner with a local boutique to put on a holiday fashion show that pairs their garments with your accessories—a win-win for both stores. Invite customers to see it in-store, but also stream it to your followers online. You can have the person recording narrate the looks as they come down the runway, detailing the jewels and the clothing, themed to upcoming holiday occasions.
These ideas and more can of course be used in your Instagram Stories as well, though they’ll be in shorter bits. Before you go live with your big holiday plans, why not try getting a feel for IGTV, to see how you feel about using it, and then go big with one of these ideas this holiday season?
