Learnings from the Heartland of America

This was my third time at the Jewelers Educational Conference in Overland Park, Kansas. What I love about this conference is reuniting with the familiar faces I met here years ago and also meeting new people. With close to 200 people in attendance, the energy is terrific and there is such a sense of community.

I had the opportunity to present to these jewelers about the changes in JCK. Some of the updates that got people excited were making the entire show wi-fi enabled, the return of the Ask Me staff, and OneRepublic at JCK Rocks the Beach. What are you most excited for?

After my brief presentation, Louie Gravance of the Walt Disney training programs entertained the room with his enthusiastic message of being who you are willing to be and creating the brand that people remember. I never thought about it before but the emotions people feel when they are going to Walt Disney World are the same emotions people get when they buy an important piece of jewelry. There is going to be a lasting memory. People will remember their experience of buying that engagement ring or wedding band…just like families remember how they felt when they went to Walt Disney World. They will remember what the experience looks like, sounds like, smells like, feels like. For jewelers, each transaction is creating an authentic moment.

The JEC continues to be a must-attend event for the midwest jeweler, just as JCK Las Vegas remains an important buying, learning and networking opportunity each year. Many retailers are planning their trip to attend JCK now. Whether by plane, train, bus, car or motorcycle, I hope you are planning your trip too.
