Amireh Parstabar started out as a designer with Crislu in 2011 before joining the team full-time as the company’s creative director in 2015. Her passion for Crislu lies in the high standards of quality it upholds in both workmanship and materials.
Parstabar graduated from Otis College of Art and Design, and got her start designing clothes for contemporary lines in Los Angeles. While she was designing, she made a necklace to display with all of her pieces. The necklace became an instant hit, and it wasn’t long before she turned it into a full collection, which got picked up at department stores such as Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Neiman Marcus.
Parstabar feels that attention to quality adds a level of sophistication and beauty that can be seen in all of her designs. We talked with her this week about those designs and her inspirations, and what Crislu has in store for us at JCK Las Vegas this year!
How did you get started in the jewelry industry?
I was trained as a clothing designer but always had a passion for jewelry. I had quit my last job to start a clothing line. While I was putting my clothing line together I made a necklace in a rainbow of colors that I gave to a jewelry showroom. It was an instant hit, and I had to figure out how to make and ship the orders. The line grew to a full collection that was carried by many independent and department stores worldwide.
What is your go-to source for inspiration?
Traveling! Regardless of where I go in the world, it kick-starts a new journey of imagination.
Describe your brand in three words.
Timeless, affordable, quality.
What has been the biggest challenge of your career? The biggest reward?
Time. Creating a piece of jewelry that others enjoy as much as I do.
What is one piece of jewelry you could never live without?
My Crislu bezel-set studs.
Why are you excited for JCK Las Vegas this year?
Running into Iris Apfel and walking through rows of sparkle.
What is your social media app of choice?
What is one item you’d be willing to splurge on?
Art, but that would take me a long time and a lot of research to choose.
What is your favorite quote or personal mantra?
“Taste love, taste success, taste failure, taste passion, taste friendship, taste travel, taste good food and bad, taste …, taste …, taste …. so you don’t leave this life hungry.”
Describe your personal jewelry style.
Classic with a twist.
What’s next for Crislu?
